If so, this exciting maternity cover role as Sports Development Officer within the Community Engagement Team in People Services could be for you.
You will work towards improving the wider health and wellbeing of our community, by:
- working with partners to raise personal health standards with particular focus on housing, mental health, alcohol, obesity and smoking;
- encouraging through a clear dialogue with those who are able, to take responsibility and self serve, while helping, with partner organisations (including the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector), those less able; and
- promoting recreational opportunities for all sections of the community.
Specific Job Details
Working alongside other specialist Development Officers within our ‘People Services’ you will be responsible for improving the general well-being of borough residents by raising and sustaining the levels of sport and phyiscal activity participation, skills, excellence, performance, coaching and volunteering through working with a variety of local partners, agencies and communities themselves. Previous experience in Sports Development is essential together with evidence of successful funding applications, and delivery of a range of projects and initiatives.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups including children, successful applicants will be required to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.
English language requirement
