Woking Borough Council

We currently have 4 community centres based within the local authority area of Woking and are seeking 2 Floating Caretakers to join the teams.

Each centre is very different and unique. Facilities include large drop-in cafe areas in which to relax and enjoy time with friends, multi-use spaces for events and activities and friendly reception areas for meeting and greeting.

You will assist the Operations Managers and staff to facilitate the day to day running of the centres. This may include some flexible working times across the different locations. It would also include, when requested, some key holding as directed by the Operations Managers.

Please note, this is a fixed term contract until 30 June 2019.

Applicants must have a current, valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle as the Council's lease car scheme is not available for fixed term contracts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the centre is well presented and clean at all times.
  • Providing basic DIY, building maintenance and basic gardening as required.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Centre’s Meeting rooms for various functions.
  • Cover annual leave and sickness across all the centres.

If you are energetic, flexible, enthusiastic, interested in working within the community and would enjoy being part of a team then we would like to hear from you!

In return the Council offers membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

The job involves contact with vulnerable adults. Successful applicants will be required to obtain an enhanced DBS Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Assistance will be given by the Council and further details can be found in the job application pack.

If you are unable to apply online, please email to request an application form.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Richard Buckenham, Operations Manager (Moorcroft) on 01483 743373.

Interviews will take place on Monday 21 January 2019 at Moorcroft Community Centre.
