Use technology to help people live safely and independently

Do you enjoy helping people, solving problems and making a real difference in your community?

Woking Borough Council is expanding its highly regarded Careline service across West Surrey and is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Careline Officer to join our growing team.

This is a unique opportunity to combine customer care, problem solving and innovative technology to support older, vulnerable and disabled residents to live safely and independently in their own homes.

Every day is different. One moment you could be installing telecare equipment for a resident returning home from hospital and the next you could be helping someone access additional support, wellbeing services or assistive technology that improves their quality of life. The role includes travel across Woking, Guildford and Waverley as part of our expanding service.

About the role

As a Careline Officer, you will:

  • Install, maintain and test telecare and assistive technology equipment.
  • Visit clients in their homes across West Surrey.
  • Assess individual needs and identify appropriate technology and support solutions.
  • Support residents to maintain their independence and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with health, social care and voluntary sector partners.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Carry out welfare-focused reviews and support visits.
  • Signpost and refer clients to services that can improve their quality of life.
  • Promote the benefits of telecare and assistive technology within local communities.

Why this role matters

Technology Enabled Care (TEC) plays a vital role in helping people remain independent, reducing isolation and providing reassurance to families and carers. Woking Careline has recently expanded to support residents across Guildford and Waverley, helping vulnerable people access a higher level of local support than many alternative providers can offer.

This is your chance to join a service recognised for its commitment, professionalism and positive impact on residents' lives.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working directly with people in their homes and communities.
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Is empathetic and understanding of the needs of older and vulnerable people.
  • Can work independently and manage their own workload effectively.
  • Has good IT skills and is comfortable learning new technology.
  • Enjoys troubleshooting and solving practical problems.
  • Can build strong relationships with residents, families, health and social care partners.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to maintain accurate records.
  • Holds a full driving licence and is willing to travel across West Surrey.

Experience in care, housing, health, community services, telecare, support work, customer service or a similar role would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in people with the right values, attitude and commitment to helping others.

What we offer

  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every day.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing development.
  • Opportunities to develop expertise in Technology Enabled Care and assistive technology.
  • Flexible benefits package.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Supportive and experienced colleagues.
  • The opportunity to be part of an innovative and rapidly developing service.

Additional Information

This post requires regular travel throughout West Surrey and is subject to an Enhanced DBS check due to regular contact with vulnerable adults.
