Aboricultural Officer
Woking Borough Council is seeking an Arboricultural Officer to join the Development Management Team on a full-time, permanent basis. Working in the Council’s Development Management Team is both exciting and challenging as significant development is planned in the Borough with an emphasis on continuing town centre regeneration to complement recently delivered improvements. By contrast, the Borough is also heavily treed and 60% of the area is designated as Green Belt, forming the backdrop to a number of villages which retain much of their original character.
Reporting to the Senior Arboricultural Officer, the postholder will primarily be responsible for processing applications for works to protected trees and providing professional arboricultural advice to Council Members, officers and the general public.
A successful candidate would have some experience of processing tree works applications and knowledge of the relevant regulations.
In return, we can offer you the chance to develop your career in a friendly, supportive team, a generous flexi-time scheme with the ability to take up to two flexi leave days a month, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, flexible benefits and a vehicle allowance.
It is a requirement for this role that applicants hold a valid full UK Driving License in order to be able to undertake site visits. The post provides the opportunity for flexible working arrangements including some home working.
For an informal discussion about this post, please contact James Veats, Senior Arboricultural Officer on 01483 743739 or james.veats@woking.gov.uk.
