Are you passionate about youth work and developing local communities? Can you engage with residents of all ages and work successfully with partners to plan and deliver high quality community events?

We are looking for an Assistant Youth Worker to work one day per week (3 hours) to develop our youth and community engagement with residents living on the Kingsmoor Park Estate in Woking.

This is initially a 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension depending on the success of the role.

This role involves working mainly with children and young people aged 7 – 12 years old and is in partnership with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) and wider partners.

We are looking for an organised, highly motivated and creative individual to support in the planning, delivery and evaluation of youth projects. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of safeguarding and delivering a variety of sessions including sports, art, drama, music and experience of working with children or young people.

Working pattern

The Assistant Youth Worker will be required to support youth projects during evenings, weekends and school holidays based upon needs identified by young people and partner organisations.

DBS Check 

Woking Borough Council takes a robust approach to thoroughly checking anyone who has applied to work with vulnerable groups including children.

As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups, successful applicants will be required to obtain an Enhanced level Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details can be found in the job pack.
