The Women’s Support Centre, Surrey delivers high-quality, trauma-informed, independent support and advocacy for women across the communities of Surrey and in prisons, which focuses on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a ‘whole system’ multi-agency response.

We are excited to be advertising for a Specialist Substance Misuse Worker to join a passionate team of women who support women.  We are looking for a team member who believes that everyone has the ability to make positive changes with the right support, who can support our clients impacted by substance misuse to identify and overcome barriers, connect women with a positive community network and build on their strengths to achieve the future they want.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide in-depth, ongoing support to a caseload of women in the community, and to provide specialist drug and alcohol support to women across Surrey and specialist advice to colleagues.

We would love to hear from you if you are you able to;

  • Manage a caseload and provide high standards of trauma-responsive advocacy and support to women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with the criminal justice system with a specific focus on Substance Misuse.
  • Design, coordinate and deliver one to one and group interventions to assist women to achieve their goals.
  • Involve women in the design and delivery of interventions, ensuring that they are at the heart of the work at all times.
  • Ensure women are supported to achieve independence though structured intervention planning and strengths-based support and appropriate onward referrals.
  • Take a collaborative multi-agency approach to supporting women

We are looking for someone with experience of working with clients suffering from multiple disadvantage in a trauma informed, holistic way. We welcome applicants with lived experience for this role.

This service is run by women for women and is therefore restricted to women applicants under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9 Part 1 and Section 7(2) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.
